On course for growth with a clear commitment to Germany as a business location
TTS Group celebrates ground-breaking ceremony for ultra-modern office and production building in Illertissen with numerous guests of honour
With an investment of 24 million euros in a new office and production building at the existing plant in Illertissen, the TTS Group (Holding TTS Tooltechnic Systems AG & Co. KG) is once again emphasising its commitment to Germany as a business location. The ground-breaking ceremony, which took place in an official ceremony on 14 July 2023, heralds the important expansion of the TTS competence centre for extraction technology and workplace organisation in southern Germany. On an area totalling 11,000 square metres, which directly adjoins the existing site, generous growth areas for the subsidiaries TANOS and TTS Cleantec will be created in a planned construction period of 1.5 years. The doubling of the current administration, production and logistics space will do justice to the market significance of both companies. As an elementary part of the holistic TTS system solutions, TTS Cleantec produces state-of-the-art extraction units for the largest TTS Group brand Festool, while TANOS develops and distributes the renowned systainer® tool case and transport system.
A day straight out of a picture book - on the morning of 14 July, the invited guests met in bright sunshine in Illertissen, Bavaria, for an initial production tour and information session. At around 2 p.m., the circle of participants expanded to include the top management of the internationally active power tool group. Barbara Austel, Chairwoman of the TTS Supervisory Board and representative of the shareholder family, and Sascha Menges (TTS CEO) were present, as were Dr Birgit Braches (Chief Financial Officer), Dr Wolfgang Knorr (Chief Technical Officer) and Christian Oltzscher (Chief Marketing, Sales, Service Officer).
Among the guests of honour was Jürgen Eisen, First Mayor of Illertissen, who gave the starting signal for the ambitious construction project at the official ground-breaking ceremony at around 3 pm. In a speech, Eisen emphasised the importance of the two TTS subsidiaries as major employers in the region and expressed his pride in their roots in Illertissen. Over the next few years, the new building will not only provide space for doubling development and testing capacities as well as series production. It will also create many new jobs and serve the region as an important platform for a large number of modern, future-orientated training occupations.
Barbara Austel was also enthusiastic about the ground-breaking ceremony: “Today we are sending out a clear signal in favour of the attractive competitiveness and future viability of Germany as a business location. However, we are not only creating space for our economic advancement - but above all state-of-the-art, inspiring working conditions for our employees. Their enthusiasm, passion and dedication to our products and solutions are the foundation of our market success.”
A modern, sustainable building
Energy intelligence is already firmly anchored in the existing building complex, which currently houses around 200 employees of TTS Cleantec and TANOS under one roof. Here, a heat pump provides heating and cooling. The new neighbourhood building continues the sustainable orientation and complies with the EG40 efficiency building standard. A photovoltaic system on the roof of the building delivers an output of 750 kWp and thus produces a large proportion of the electricity required itself. In addition, there is a modern LED lighting system with presence detectors and daylight sensors in the interior rooms as well as eight electric charging stations in the customer and employee car parks.
Plenty of room for growth
It is widely known that Festool is one of the cult brands in the areas of power tools and extraction technology. Its large fan base can be found in all areas of the professional and DIY trades. With over 35 million tool and transport cases sold, the systainer® system from TANOS is also a globally renowned brand. In order for these success stories to continue, space for growth is essential. It is therefore not surprising that Ulrich Brunner, Managing Director of TTS Cleantec, also expressed his enthusiasm during the ground-breaking ceremony: “The new building will provide us with space and area for sustainable growth over the next ten years. This will enable us to present ourselves even more strongly to the region as an attractive employer and forward-looking training company.”
When it is completed at the end of 2024, the building will consist of a production hall measuring almost 7,800 square metres and an office building of around 2,840 square metres with bright work and meeting areas as well as a spacious canteen for all employees at the site. On this basis, TANOS will also be able to successfully continue the strong growth of the last three years - Klaus-Martin Berstecher is certain of this: “We are happy to be at home in a region that enables us to be a premium partner for our customers thanks to a solid infrastructure, the best suppliers and logistics partners, but above all thanks to our dedicated employees. On this basis and with the expanded possibilities offered by the new building, we at TANOS have ambitious growth plans for the future.”
